Substance addiction
SEVA Substance Addiction Intensive
A private, intensive, four-week, one-to-one program for alcohol and drug addiction. No groups. No lectures. One practitioner, one client, and work that is expected to get done.
Most people who come to us can already explain their drinking or using better than anyone in their life can argue with. That is not a character flaw. It is what addiction does with intelligence. We are not here to out-argue you. We are here because we know what the argument sounds like from the inside.
It started as a solution
Alcohol and drugs did something. They relieved pain, quieted the mind, produced confidence, or made an unbearable hour bearable. Then the solution became the problem. Taking the substance away without understanding why it was worth the wreckage is how people end up sober and miserable, waiting.
Who this is for
People who are done negotiating with themselves. It is not for someone looking for a program that will accommodate every excuse or protect them from every uncomfortable feeling. We are selective, and we decline more people than we accept. If we take you on, it is because we believe you can do this.
The four weeks
Week one
Understand
The full picture, not the version prepared for other people. What you use, when, what it does for you, what it costs, and what has kept it going despite everything you already know. We are less interested in the substance than in the job it has been doing.
Week two
Recognize
Learning to hear the addictive voice in real time. The rationalizing, the minimizing, the bargaining, the selective memory, the promises. It sounds like you, which is exactly why it works. This is the week people start catching it mid-sentence.
Week three
Respond
Practising different responses to craving, pressure, boredom, conflict, and the moments that historically ended the same way. The aim is to make recovery progressively less dependent on willpower at the worst possible moment.
Week four
Adapt
Consolidating what has changed and getting clear about the life this is protecting. What you are building, what you are no longer willing to sacrifice, and what happens on an ordinary Tuesday six months from now. Follow-up at thirty, sixty, and ninety days.
Schema, Education, Values, and Adaptation run through all four weeks. They are not scheduled one per week, and the order of the work is deliberate.
Peer support is not a footnote
There are things people will say to someone who has been there that they will never say to someone whose understanding is purely clinical. Shame, deception, relapse, humiliation, the selfishness, the feeling that addiction turned you into someone you barely recognize. We understand because we've been there. Professional training on one side, lived experience on the other.
Some of our clients know far more about medicine than we do. That's fine. We know addiction.
We do not provide detox or medical withdrawal management. Where that is needed first, we will say so and help you find it.
